A blockchain and digital economy curriculum for universities in MENA (syllabus outline)

Most published blockchain syllabi are English-language and built for US or Asian universities. A 5-week, 25-hour outline designed for business students in MENA, taught in Arabic or English, with an assessment model you can adapt.

Key takeaways
  • Business students need blockchain as an economic and risk topic, not a coding one.
  • Teach both successes and failures: the Ethereum Merge and Uniswap, but also FTX and Terra/Luna.
  • Use MENA examples: VARA in Dubai, Vision 2030, stablecoin use in Lebanon.
  • A running project and a final pitch assess understanding better than a quiz alone.
  • Delivery in Arabic, English or both widens access.

01Why a MENA-specific curriculum

Most published blockchain syllabi come from universities in the US, Europe or Asia. They are good models, but they rarely cover what students in the region actually face: Dubai’s VARA regulation, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, or the way USDT replaced bank accounts for many people in Lebanon. And very few are available in Arabic.
