What to put in a crypto KOL campaign brief (template for MENA campaigns)

A clear brief gets you better content, faster approvals and honest quotes. The ten things every crypto creator needs from a BD or affiliate manager, with a copy-paste template.

Key takeaways
  • One clear goal per campaign: awareness, sign-ups or activation.
  • Name the target countries and dialect, not just “MENA”.
  • Give the creator the real user journey, including the hard steps.
  • Agree tracking and the definition of a conversion before content is made.
  • A budget range gets you a realistic proposal instead of a guess.

01Why the brief decides the result

Most weak crypto campaigns fail before the content is made. The brief says “promote our new feature to MENA”, the creator guesses, and the result is a generic post that nobody acts on. A good brief takes 30 minutes and saves weeks of revisions.

02The 10 things to include

  1. Goal: one main goal. Awareness, sign-ups, KYC completions, first deposits or event attendance.
  2. Target countries and language: for example “Lebanon and UAE, Arabic first”. MENA is not one audience.
  3. Product and the one thing to remember: what it does, for whom, and the single message the viewer should leave with.
  4. The user journey: the real steps from download to first use, including KYC, funding methods available in each country and common errors.
  5. Offer: any bonus, fee discount or campaign, with its exact terms and eligible countries.
  6. Formats and platforms: for example one YouTube tutorial, two Reels and an X thread.
  7. Tracking: referral links or codes, what counts as a conversion, and how and when you share results.
  8. Compliance and disclosure: required wording, restricted countries and claims to avoid. Paid content should always be disclosed.
  9. Timeline: draft date, approval rounds, publishing date.
  10. Budget range and model: flat fee, performance or hybrid, and usage rights if you want to reuse the content in ads.

04Mistakes that cost the most

  • Asking for a script that reads like an ad. Audiences skip it, and trust drops.
  • Promoting an offer that isn’t available in the creator’s main countries.
  • Changing the tracking after the content is live.
  • Leaving out the hard steps (KYC, funding) that users get stuck on.

05Questions BD managers ask

How long should a KOL brief be?

One page is enough. What matters is a clear goal, the target countries, the user journey and how success is measured.

Should we write the script for the creator?

Give key messages and compliance requirements, then let the creator explain it in their own words. That is what their audience trusts.

How far in advance should we brief a crypto creator?

Two to three weeks for a dedicated video, less for short posts. Launches tied to a fixed date need the brief as early as possible.
